CPAP mask leaks are one of the most annoying things about therapy. They make noises, wake you up, and can ruin your whole night. I’ve spent nearly 10 years helping CPAP users fix leaks, and the good news is it’s usually a few simple tweaks away from a solution.
Leaks often happen because the mask does not fit your face shape, straps are too loose or too tight, or cushions and headgear are worn out. Adjusting mask placement and strap tension, replacing old cushions, and adding a mask liner can all make a huge difference. Making sure your CPAP settings are correct and humidification is adequate also helps reduce leaks.
Side sleepers may need slightly different strap adjustments, and even small movements of the mask can relieve persistent leaks.
Leaks are frustrating but fixable. With the right adjustments and accessories, you can finally enjoy quiet, uninterrupted sleep. NightmAir CPAP strap covers do not stop leaks, but they cushion your straps and reduce red marks, making your mask much more comfortable to wear.
